EDUCATION
I am a PATH International Certified Instructor, Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning and Special Olympic Equestrian Coach with a degree in Therapeutic Horsemanship.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO YOUR FIELD?
My dad put me on a horse when I was 4. I instantly fell in love and I have been riding ever since.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH CORDILLERA RANCH?
I started January 7, 2013.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF WORKING IN THE HILL COUNTRY?
The natural beauty, friendly people, and a night sky full of stars!

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES/INTERESTS?
Live music, anything to do with water, hiking and all things outdoors, really good food and traveling!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SPORT?
Synchronized swimming- Just kidding! Other than all of the equestrian sports, I love watching football and going to basketball games.

FAVORITE SPORTING EVENT YOU’VE ATTENDED?
I went to Formula 1 in Austin with my family last November and it was absolutely the FASTEST two hours of my life!

FAVORITE QUOTE?
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” “The meaning of life is to give life a meaning.” And the old Italian saying “il bel far niente” which means the beauty of doing nothing.

FAVORITE MOVIE AND WHY?
Some of my favorites are National Velvet, because what’s not to love about a young Elizabeth Taylor finding her dream horse, The Pie, and their journey together. It’s a must see for every horse lover. UP is another favorite; one word “SQUIRREL!” Love Actually, because the opening monologue gets me every time and is a wonderful reminder that if you look for it, love actually is all around. Step Brothers, Dumb and Dumber, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Anchorman because laughing has to be my favorite thing to do and every time I watch them I see something new that makes me appreciate the actual comedy in the writing.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST CHALLENGE IN YOUR BUSINESS?
I think one of the hardest things about this job is saying goodbye to old horses. We only get to know the majority of them during their golden years and more often than we’d like we have to let them go before we’re ready.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST REWARDING EXPERIENCE IN YOUR BUSINESS?
Being a part of the small miracles horses create for riders and their families. I have seen a 16 year old speak his first word on the back of a horse, had a wheelchair bound child dismount his horse and walk out of the arena with me, and I’ve witnessed the independence horses give to people who otherwise don’t have any. Everyday I get to watch horses teach people how to communicate with others, how to trust and how to be trustworthy, overcome their fears, and build confidence. What’s not rewarding about all of that?

FAVORITE ASPECT OR FEATURE AT CORDILLERA RANCH?
The Equestrian Club of course! I really enjoy the family-oriented atmosphere and how friendly everyone is!
