What past work history prepared you for Cordillera Ranch? 

I was the Facilities Director for The Dominion Country Club for the last five years.

What do you like most about working at Cordillera Ranch? 

I like the fun environment. All of the staff here are so easy to work with. My favorite part of my job is being able to enhance the member experience by implementing new ideas and seeing those ideas really come to life.

What has been your most rewarding professional experience?

Being able to promote within my department.

What has been your greatest professional challenge?

Finding the right candidate for the position.

What inspired you to pursue work in this field?

I wanted to learn different trades to be able to maintain and do repairs on my own house in the future. I lived in apartments until I was able to learn different trades.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Fun, hard-working, silly.

What do you do in your free time?

I like to spend time with my family, fish and go to the beach.

What is your secret to happiness?

Making sure my family is happy and healthy, and whiskey.

What motivates you to succeed?

Helping other people. 

With the holidays upon us, how do you like to spend Thanksgiving or Christmas?

We spend the holidays with friends and family at the house or in Corpus Christi where my wife is from.

What was your most recent adventure?

A family ski trip to Colorado.

Excluding food and water, what two things would you want if stranded on an island?

A fishing pole and a radio.

Are you a cat or dog person, and why?

Dog. Our family fosters and cares for rescue dogs until they can be adopted.

If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be?

Unlimited amounts of money, to have my parents live forever, and never age.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a Movie Star.

What is your favorite genre of music?

Oldies.

If you could time travel, where would you go?

1950s.

Who would your ideal dinner guests?

Ken Griffey Jr, my grandfather on my father’s side, my wife and Snoop Dog.

What is your favorite meal?

Anything BBQ.

Fall has been a busy season for the Agronomy team. This important season kicks off after all the fun of the Ladies’ Ranch Roundup, when we begin our greens aerification process. At the conclusion of this process in October, we have now seen the extraordinary benefit of the deep vertical slicing (Graden device) coupled with the normal aerification of punching holes and backfilling with sand.

A long-standing interest of mine has been the benefits of using honey and bee keeping. I have enjoyed honey since I was a child and there are many benefits of having honey in your diet. Honey contains a variety of nutrients, it’s rich in antioxidants and is better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar. Research has shown it to promote heart health, promote burn and wound healing, and help suppress coughing with children.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been around the game of golf. From watching golf tournaments on TV with my family to going out to the driving range with my dad during my High School years while on the Golf Team, everything I associate with golf has been positive. I decided to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and major in Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Business. Fusing both my passion for fashion and love for the game of golf, the golf merchandising path was the perfect path for me.
