Schools Out For Summer! Now What?

Summer is fast approaching, so it is time to start figuring out how to entertain your kids for the 12 weeks of school vacation. Luckily the Club has the answer…Cordillera Ranch Summer Camps! This year we are featuring 5 NEW CAMPS, totaling 13 different camp formats! The Clubs’ camps are staffed with enthusiastic counselors and provide a great outlet for your kids to learn a new hobby or sport, create lifelong friendships and get out of the house to enjoy the great outdoors.

New Camps – New Fun – New Traditions!
2012 brings with it 5 new and exciting camps and creates more diversity in our camp line-up.

Girls Camp: June 5th – 8th & July 10th – 13th
This camp is just for, you guessed it, the girls! Centered around everything that girls enjoy; swimming, sports, arts and crafts, dress up, team building, and horses, just to name a few. This camp will let the girls express their free spirits with some song and dance and most importantly, allow them to just be themselves.

Boys Camp: June 5th – 8th & July 10th – 13th
We can’t just let the girls have all the fun, our Boys Camp is all about team work, adventure, and sportsmanship! Boys Camp will feature fishing, archery, climbing, building and caving along with much more.

Behind the Scenes Camp: June 26th – 29th
This camp is based off our popular Tennis, Sports and Adventure Camp by going Behind the Scenes to local parks, museums and recreation centers. Campers will spend the week learning about animals, nature, history, science, sports and more!

Swim Camp: June 12th – 15th & July 3rd – 6th
Our Swim Camps feature two different formats. Our first camp dates will be held at the Clubs’ pools with our Water Safety Expert teaching, organizing, and coaching all campers to swim at a higher level. Our second week of Swim Camp is for the intermediate to advanced swimmer. It will incorporate travel to local, pools, lakes, parks and recreation centers so that kids can swim to their heart’s desire!

Cooking Camp with Chef Kopecky: June 19th – 22nd & July 24th – 27th
Our very own Chef Kirsten Kopecky, graduate of the Le Cordon Blue Culinary School, will be teaching youngsters kitchen safety, proper food handling, food preparation, cooking/baking techniques and presentation. You want to get the kids out of your hair because their hungry and can’t make anything?? This camp will do it!

Bringing back the old favorites.
While we do have some great, new and exciting camps, we can’t forget about the oldies, but goodies!

Tennis, Sports and Adventure Camp: July 31st – August 3rd
Kids enjoy all kinds of sports and activities that capitalize on what the Cordillera Ranch outdoors has to offer.

Lil’ Ranchers Camp: July 31st – August 3rd
This camp is action packed and offered in the morning creating a great first time camp experience for kids ages 3-6.

Outdoor Adventure Camp: July 17th – 20th
Get ready for some fun and challenging experiences this summer. Our Outdoor Adventure Camp allows kids to push the traditional camp boundaries a little by incorporating, kayaking, zip lining, and a visit to our very own Gun Club, plus much more!

Horse Camp: June 19th – 22nd, July 17th – 20th, July 31st – August 3rd & August 14th – 17th
Horse Camp focuses on complete horsemanship skills and emphasizes safety, learning and fun! Two levels of camps are offered; one for ages 8+ with beginner riding skills and another for ages 4-7 with little to no riding experience.

Golf Camp: June 5th – 8th, June 19th – 22nd, July 10th – 13th, July 24th – 27th & August 7th – 10th
This camp is for all levels of golfers, with the Golf Professional Staff working to improve all areas of the game including swing, short-game, bunker play and putting as well as rules and etiquette.

Tennis Camp: 7 different dates to choose from!
Camp is for all levels and includes stroke production, match play, strategies, video analysis and game situations.

Dance Camp: June 12th – 15th & August 7th – 10th
Funky music, cool moves and exercise are the perfect combination for our Dance Camp! We promote a wholesome atmosphere, high self esteem and dancing skills by learning a mixture of routines including hip-hop, cheer, jazz and modern funk.

Outdoor Leadership Camp: June 19th – 22nd & July 24th – 27th
Campers learn how to make good decisions in a variety of scenarios including hiking etiquette, outdoor cooking, leadership skills, navigation and adapting to the environment.

With all the fun camps planned for the summer, the only thing left to do is sign up! Comprehensive camp programs (done so nicely by our very own Aubri Reed!) are available around the Club if you haven’t already received one by mail. Get Away To It All

Amenity Reservations on the Ranch

Cordillera Ranch offers a variety of amenities for property owners and the new POA website allows online reservations for those amenities. To place a reservation request, simply log into the Cordillera Ranch POA website at www.cordilleraranchpoa.com, use the drop down on the For Residents tab and select Reservations, which lists the multiple amenities available. Property owners will then need to select which amenity they wish to reserve, and fill out the online form. The completed form is sent to the POA to review, at which time the POA will approve or deny the request. Once a decision has been made by the POA, the property owner is notified.

Where Do You Spend Your Time?

I recently read a story retold by the father of a young family of three that included himself, his wife and their young daughter. According to his recounting, after dinner they were each challenged to share an object symbolic of how they would describe one another to a stranger. When it was the daughter’s turn to share the item she thought to be representative of her father, she produced a cell phone. At her young age, she wasn’t taking a sarcastic “shot” at her dad, rather, it was how she truly saw him when he was home.
